This is a complete set of four first day covers commemorating
"Classic American Aircraft" from World War Two. These came
out in 1996 when the United States Postal Service issued the
aircraft stamps in limited numbers. The four aircraft on the
envelopes are the B-17, the F4F Wildcat, the P-51 Mustang and the
F4U Corsair. Excellent, excellent platforms to obtain aviation
autographs!!
These are two issues of the postwar Luftwaffe magazine, "Jager Blatt." The majority of the
Jager Blatt articles focus on the WWII Luftwaffe and occasionally discuss the modern
Luftwaffe. These are two special editions, one announcing the death of Major Erich Hartmann
(Germany's Greatest ace) and the other announcing the death of General Adolf Galland
(Germany's most famous General). The Hartmann issue is dated November 1993 and the
Galland issue is dated mid 1996. These come directly from Germany and are in German. Very,
very hard editions to find here in the United States. Both contain extensive photos and text on
the passing of these two great fighter pilots. Rare to find but wonderful to display with your
Galland or Hartmann signed items. Extremely hard to find and in excellent condition. Sold
together.
